Part 2: Selecting a Case

There are a number of things to take into account when choosing a gaming PC case. The size of the case itself is the first and possibly most significant element. The motherboard's size and the system's total dimensions are determined by the size, or form factor, of the casing. ATX, micro ATX, and mini ITX are the three most popular case sizes for gaming systems. A micro ATX or mini ITX case will be more compact and will be able to fit into smaller spaces, but an ATX case will offer the most capacity for components and features.

The case's style and appearance should also be taken into account. You should pick a case whose style you prefer, and which complements the overall look of your setup. Along with the material and finish, you should think about the case's colour and lighting options. It’s a proven fact, that more lights make you a better gamer (This is not true at all).

One of the most important characteristics of a case is the case's cooling capacity. The ventilation and airflow in a good gaming PC case should be sufficient to keep the parts cool and prevent overheating. The number and location of fan mounts, as well as support for liquid cooling, should also be taken into account.

The features and connectivity capabilities of the case should also be addressed. For instance, you should check that the case has enough audio jacks and USB ports to accommodate all of your devices and connectivity requirements. Additionally, think about your options for cable management and also the ease of access to the case's interior.

It's best to do some research and read reviews before selecting a case, to see which choices are appropriate for the PC you have in mind. Additionally, make sure the casing is compatible with your system's other parts, including the motherboard, CPU, GPU, and storage drives.
